Gideon Pursues the Kings of Midian
Judges 8
Gideon pacifies the men of Ephraim, punishes the towns of Succoth and Penuel for refusing to aid his pursuit, and captures and kills the Midianite kings Zebah and Zalmunna. He refuses Israel's offer to make him ruler, but his golden ephod made from the spoil becomes a snare to Israel, and after his death the people again turn to worship Baal.
