Gideon's Three Hundred

Judges 7

The Lord reduces Gideon's army from thirty-two thousand to three hundred men, selected by how they drink water, so that Israel cannot boast in its own strength. Encouraged by overhearing a Midianite's dream, Gideon leads the three hundred by night with trumpets, torches, and pitchers to rout the camp of Midian, and Israel pursues and kills the Midianite princes Oreb and Zeeb.

ThomsonTHEN Jerobaal (the same is Gideon) arose early in the morning, and all the people with him, and they encamped by the well Arad. Now the camp of Madiam was to the north of him, at the foot of Gabaathamorai, in the valley.
