Jacob's Return to Bethel

Genesis 35

At God's command Jacob leads his household back to Bæthel, where they put away their foreign gods and he builds an altar; there God appears to him again, confirms the name Israel, and repeats the promises given to Abraam and Isaac. On the journey Rachel dies giving birth to Benjamin near Ephratha, and the chapter closes with a list of Jacob's twelve sons and the death and burial of Isaac at a hundred eighty years.
