A Ruler's Vow of Integrity
Psalms 100
David sings of mercy and judgment and resolves to walk in innocence within his own house, refusing to set any unlawful thing before his eyes or tolerate the proud, the slanderer, or the deceitful. He determines to favor the faithful of the land and to root out wrongdoers from the city of the Lord.

ThomsonI WILL sing of mercy and judgment: to Thee, O Lord, I will tune my lyre.
BrentonA Psalm of David. I will sing to thee, O Lord, of mercy and judgment; I will sing a psalm,
GreekΨαλμὸς τῷ Δαυίδ. Ἔλεος καὶ κρίσιν ᾄσομαί σοι, Κύριε·
KJVI will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O LORD, will I sing.

ThomsonI will conduct myself wisely in a perfect way; O when wilt Thou come to me? I have walked in the integrity of my heart in the midst of my household.
Brentonand I will be wise in a blameless way. When wilt thou come to me? I walked in the innocence of my heart, in the midst of my house.
Greekψαλῶ καὶ συνήσω ἐν ὁδῷ ἀμώμῳ· πότε ἥξεις πρὸς μέ; διεπορευόμην ἐν ἀκακίᾳ καρδίας μου, ἐν μέσῳ τοῦ οἴκου μου.
KJVI will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.
JPSI will give heed unto the way of integrity; oh when wilt Thou come unto me? I will walk within my house in the integrity of my heart.

ThomsonI have not set any wicked thing before mine eyes: them who commit transgressions I detested.

GreekΟὐ προεθέμην πρὸ ὀφθαλμῶν μου πρᾶγμα παράνομον, ποιοῦντας παραβάσεις ἐμίσησα· οὐκ ἐκολλήθη μοικαρδία σκαμβὴ,
KJVI will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.
JPSI will set no base thing before mine eyes; I hate the doing of things crooked; it shall not cleave unto me.

ThomsonA perverse heart hath not cleaved to me. When the wicked withdrew from me; I no more acknowledged him.
BrentonA perverse heart has not cleaved to me; I have not known an evil man, forasmuch as he turns away from me.

ThomsonI took the earliest occasion to destroy all the sinners of the land—to root out of the city of the Lord all the workers of iniquity.
