Wives for Benjamin
Judges 21
Israel mourns that an oath sworn at Mizpah now threatens to leave the tribe of Benjamin without wives and so cut off from Israel entirely. To preserve the tribe without breaking their oath, the Israelites give the surviving young women of Jabesh-gilead to the Benjamite survivors and arrange for the remaining men to seize wives from the dancing daughters of Shiloh at its yearly feast.
