The Inheritance of Ephraim
Joshua 16
The chapter describes the borders of the land allotted to the sons of Joseph and then specifically to the tribe of Ephraim, listing the course of its boundaries and cities. It notes that Ephraim did not drive out the Canaanites dwelling in Gazer, who remained among them as forced laborers.

ThomsonBut Ephraim did not destroy the Chananites who dwelt in Gazer. So the Chananites have dwelt among the Ephraimites to this day.
BrentonAnd Ephraim did not destroy the Chananite who dwelt in Gazer; and the Chananite dwelt in Ephraim until this day, until Pharao the king of Egypt went up and took it, and burnt it with fire; and the Chananites, and Pherezites, and the dwellers in Gaza they destroyed, and Pharao gave them for a dowry to his daughter.
