The Covenant with David

Psalms 88

The psalmist recounts God's covenant oath to David, promising to establish his throne and seed forever and praising the Lord's unmatched power over the heavens, the sea, and the nations, along with the justice and truth that are the foundation of his throne. The psalm then turns to lament that God now appears to have cast off his anointed and broken down his kingdom, closing with an urgent plea for God to remember his ancient mercies sworn to David.
