The Confederacy Against Israel
Psalms 82
The psalmist alerts God that enemies have conspired together against his people, naming a confederacy of neighboring nations, including Idumea, Moab, Ammon, and the Philistines, joined even by Assur, that intends to wipe out the name of Israel. He prays that these enemies meet the same defeat as Madiam, Sisera, and Jabin of old, so that all may know the Lord alone is Most High over the earth.
