The Vine Out of Egypt
Psalms 79
Addressing God as the Shepherd of Israel enthroned upon the cherubs, the psalmist pleads for restoration after feeding on tears and becoming a mockery to the neighboring nations. Using the image of a vine brought out of Egypt and planted, now broken down and ravaged by wild beasts, he begs God to look from heaven and restore what his own hand had planted.
