The Trespass and Guilt Offerings
Leviticus 5
The Lord describes further situations calling for a sin offering, such as failing to testify or unknowingly touching something unclean, permits the poor to bring birds or flour instead of an animal, and sets out the guilt offering of a ram for sins against holy things or against a neighbor, together with restitution plus a fifth part.

Thomsonor if a person be a transgressor, either pronouncing with his lips to do evil; or to do good according to all that the man might pronounce with an oath and it hath escaped his notice; when he hath come to the knowledge of his having inadvertently sinned in any of these cases,

Thomsonand he shall sprinkle some of the blood of that which is for a sin offering on the side of the altar and squeeze out the rest of the blood on the base of the altar. It is a sin offering.

ThomsonThen he shall offer the other as an offering of homage in the usual manner. So shall the priest make atonement for him for the sin which he hath committed and it shall be forgiven him.

ThomsonIf a person through inadvertence hath forgotten or been unwittingly deficient in any of the holy things of the Lord; when he shall bring for his trespass against the Lord a ram without blemish from the flock, thou must estimate in silver shekels, by the shekel of the sanctuary, the value of that in respect to which he hath trespassed,
BrentonThe soul which shall be really unconscious, and shall sin unwillingly in any of the holy things of the Lord, shall even bring to the Lord for his transgression, a ram of the flock without blemish, valued according to shekels of silver according to the shekel of the sanctuary, for his transgression wherein he transgressed.

Thomsonand he shall pay the amount of the deficiency of which he hath been guilty, and shall add thereto a fifth and give it to the priest; and the priest shall make atonement for him with the trespass ram and he shall be forgiven.
BrentonAnd he shall make compensation for that wherein he has sinned in the holy things; and he shall add the fifth part to it, and give it to the priest; and the priest shall make atonement for him with the ram of transgression, and his sin shall be forgiven him.

ThomsonSo with respect to every person, who may have sinned; when he shall do any of those things, which by any of the commands of the Lord ought not to be done, and did not know—if he hath trespassed and contracted guilt;
