A Lament for the Slain

Jeremiah 9

Jeremiah wishes for a lodging place in the wilderness so he might escape his treacherous, deceitful people, and the Lord calls for mourning women to raise a dirge because death has entered through the windows to cut down young and old. The Lord declares that no one should boast in wisdom, strength, or wealth, but only in knowing him, and pronounces coming judgment on Judah together with the surrounding nations.
