The Temple Sermon

Jeremiah 7

Standing at the temple, Jeremiah warns the people not to trust in the phrase the temple of the Lord while they steal, murder, commit adultery, and burn incense to Baal, reminding them what became of the Lord's sanctuary at Shiloh. He declares that because they have built altars to sacrifice their children in the valley of the son of Hinnom, that place will be called the valley of slaughter, and the joy of bridegroom and bride will cease from the land.
