The Queen of Heaven Rebuked

Jeremiah 51

The Lord charges the Jews now settled in Egypt with continuing the idolatry that brought ruin on Jerusalem, and warns that this remnant will likewise be consumed by sword and famine except for a few who return to Judah. The people openly answer that they will keep burning incense and pouring drink offerings to the queen of heaven as their fathers did, and the chapter closes with an earlier word the Lord had given to Baruch not to seek great things for himself but to receive his life as a gift wherever he goes.
