The Covenant Renewed

Exodus 34

Moses cuts two new tables of stone, and the Lord descends and proclaims himself merciful, compassionate, and just, renewing his covenant with Israel and repeating commands against idolatry and concerning the feasts and the firstborn. When Moses comes down from the mountain after forty days without food or water, his face shines with such glory that he must wear a veil before the people.
