Exodus 21

The Lord gives ordinances concerning the release of Hebrew servants after six years, the treatment of servant women, and penalties for striking or killing another person. Further laws address injuries caused by a goring bull or by negligence such as an uncovered pit, establishing compensation according to the harm done.
