The Ram and the He-Goat
Daniel 8
Daniel sees a vision of a ram with two horns overthrown by a he-goat with a great horn, which is later broken and replaced by four horns, one of which produces a small horn that grows great and disturbs the sanctuary and its sacrifice. Gabriel explains to Daniel that the ram represents the kings of the Medes and Persians and the goat the king of the Greeks, and foretells a fierce king who will arise later and destroy many before his downfall.

ThomsonUpon this I, Daniel, was confined to my bed and sick. And when I arose I did the king’s business. And I was astonished at the vision; but none understood it.
