Daniel in the Lions' Den
Daniel 6
Darius sets Daniel over his kingdom, and jealous officials persuade the king to decree that no one may petition any god or man but the king for thirty days, on pain of being cast to the lions. Daniel continues praying to his God three times a day and is thrown into the den of lions, but God shuts the lions' mouths so he is unharmed, while his accusers are cast in and destroyed.

ThomsonNow when Daniel knew that the decree was passed, he went home and the windows in his upper chamber towards Jerusalem were opened for him, and three times a day, kneeling down on his knees, he prayed and gave thanks before his God as he had done heretofore.
