2 Kings 25

Nabuchodonosor besieges Jerusalem until famine forces the city open, Sedekias flees but is captured, his sons are slain before him, and he is blinded and bound and taken to Babylon, after which Nabuzardan the captain of the guard burns the house of the Lord, the king's house, and the city, breaks down its walls, carries off the temple's bronze and gold vessels, and deports the people, leaving only the poorest to work the land. The chapter ends with the murder of the governor Godolias and the flight of the remaining people into Egypt, and finally with Joachim, long a captive in Babylon, being lifted up and shown kindness by a new Babylonian king.
